Mark A. Treichel
Mark A. Treichel is the Executive Director (ED) of NCUA. As ED, he is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the federal agency that charters and supervises the nation’s federal credit unions and insures the vast majority of credit union member deposits.
Prior to being named NCUA Executive Director, Mr. Treichel served as the Regional Director of the Region 1 – Albany office. As Regional Director, he was responsible for the oversight of the chartering program for federal credit unions and the examination and supervision programs for all federally insured credit unions in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Mr. Treichel joined NCUA as an examiner in 1986. He has also served as a problem case officer, supervisory examiner, director of special actions and insurance, acting director of risk management in the Office of Examination and Insurance, associate regional director of operations and deputy executive director. He was named to his current position in January 2013.
Mr. Treichel holds an accounting degree from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
Deputy Executive Director
John Kutchey is the Deputy Executive Director for the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). He is responsible for overseeing the day to day administrative operations of the agency and other special programs within NCUA, including small credit unions and consumer protection initiatives. As Deputy, Mr. Kutchey advises and assists the Executive Director in meeting the mission of the agency.
Prior to his appointment as Deputy Executive Director, Mr. Kutchey served as the agency's deputy director of the Office of Examination and Insurance (E&I). Within NCUA, he has also held positions as E&I's director of risk management and Region II's director of supervision. He also served as a supervisory examiner, a problem case officer and a principal examiner. Prior to his joining NCUA, he worked for various credit unions.
Mr. Kutchey graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Baltimore with a degree in Business Administration.
