Chairman's Roundtable on MDI Preservation 9:00 AM

The NCUA-hosted educational and networking event for federally insured credit unions certified as minority depository institutions will have three virtual roundtables. This first roundtable will be open to MDI credit unions in the NCUA's Eastern Region, with events for MDIs in the Southern and Western regions taking place in September.

The webinar will focus on the NCUA’s new modern examination platforms and systems, including the agency’s Modern Examination & Risk Identification Tool, or MERIT. The webinar will discuss the benefits of these systems to credit unions and federal and state examiners, and it will also provide information on:

  • Data Exchange Application (DEXA) — This web-based application can be used by credit unions to import member loan and share data to the NCUA for examination purposes.
  • NCUA Connect — This is a common entry point for authorized users to securely access NCUA’s applications, like MERIT and others.
  • Admin Portal — This secure portal provides state regulatory agencies and credit unions access to NCUA Connect and other examination-related applications.

The NCUA Board is gathering information and soliciting comments from interested parties regarding the current and potential impact of activities connected to digital assets and related technologies on federally insured credit unions (FICUs), related entities, and the NCUA. The NCUA is broadly interested in receiving input on commenters' views in this area, including current and potential uses in the credit union system, and the risks associated with them.

As part of Military Consumer Month, the National Credit Union Administration is partnering with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission to raise awareness on important consumer financial protection issues related to servicemembers and their families. Staff from the NCUA's Office of Consumer Financial Protection, the CFPB, and FTC will highlight federal resources that will help servicemembers, veterans, and their families manage their finances and shield themselves against frauds and scams.

“Supplier Diversity as a Business Practice: Where Do We Begin?” Webinar 2:00 PM

The National Credit Union Administration’s Office of Minority and Women Inclusion will host a webinar on supplier diversity beginning at 2 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, August 31.

The webinar will discuss why supplier diversity is important and how to implement a program. This 60-minute webinar will also:

  • Debunk the myths and biases keeping credit unions from starting supplier diversity programs;
  • Distinguish between performative versus representational communications in supplier diversity;
  • Describe what credit unions can do to begin supplier diversity programs; and
  • Describe how to measure a credit union’s supplier diversity efforts and effectiveness.
