Matz Statement on Retirement of Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd

January 6, 2010, Alexandria, Va. –

"There has not been a single important piece of banking legislation over the last two decades that didn’t bear the imprint of Senator Dodd.  His Chairmanship has been characterized by careful attention to detail, by serious examination of all sides of very complex issues, and by a real commitment to fairness and progress.  Chairman Dodd, quite simply, is a legislator’s legislator, and his work, his personality and his contributions will be missed."

The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, with the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of over 90 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.
