Chairman Johnson Joins Treasury Secretary Snow Introducing Financial Literacy StrategyApril 3, 2006, Alexandria, Va. – National Credit Union Administration Chairman JoAnn Johnson will join Secretary of the Treasury John W. Snow, Members of Congress, and partner government officials as the Financial Literacy and Education Commission launches the National Strategy for Financial Literacy, a next step in the Commissions effort to help Americans learn more about their money. Launch of the financial literacy strategy will occur at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2006, in the Department of Treasury Media Room. The National Credit Union Administration is the independent federal agency that regulates, charters and supervises federal credit unions. NCUA, backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government, also operates the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), insuring the deposits of nearly 85 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the majority of state-chartered credit unions.
