NCUA to Hold Fifth Budget Briefing and Public Forum October 19

September 28, 2005, Alexandria, Va.National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) announced today that the agency’s fifth annual Budget Briefing and Public Forum is scheduled for Wednesday, October 19 at 10:00 a.m. in the NCUA’s Alexandria  headquarters Board room. Conducted by NCUA Executive Director Len Skiles, the briefing will introduce the proposed 2006 budget to stakeholders and invite public input and comment.

Where: Board Room, NCUA Headquarters, 1775 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA

When: 10 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. – October 19, 2005

“The briefing is an important part of the NCUA’s efforts in formulating the agency’s 2006 budget,” said NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson.  “Looking forward to the opportunities and challenges of 2006, we value the opportunity to present a forum, where beneficial input is gathered annually from the credit unions NCUA regulates and/or insures.  As we continue the agency’s focus on maintaining the wise use of resources, it is vital for NCUA’s stakeholders to have an open, complete view of the proposed budget.”

The NCUA Board and senior staff will attend the presentation. The Budget Briefing and Public Forum will once again have a period designated to hear oral statements from our stakeholders. 

Public and credit union community members who wish to make oral statements pertaining to the proposed budget should contact the Secretary of the Board to register.  Each registered participant is accorded up to10 minutes for an oral statement.

Requests to speak should be captioned “Budget Briefing and Public Forum – Request to Participate” and must be received by Oct.12.  Because of time restraints, NCUA reserves the right to select witnesses; however, the agency will make every effort to accommodate all requests and ensure a broad range of views.

Participants preferring to provide written comments may file them with the Secretary of the Board captioned “Budget Briefing and Public Forum – Comment.” Written comments may be received before, during or after the forum, but must be received no later than Nov. 4 to be considered.
