Rori P. Smith Joins NCUA’s External Affairs Team

Alexandria, VA, February 17, 2005 – National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Chairman JoAnn Johnson announced today that Rori Patrise Smith has been appointed Associate Director of External Affairs.

Smith joins NCUA with an extensive public affairs background, most recently, serving as Senior Communications Assistant for the 55th Presidential Inaugural Committee. Before joining the committee, she served as the Spokesperson for the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York.

“Rori Smith is an excellent addition to our external affairs team,” said NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson. “Rori will be instrumental in furthering the agency’s outreach, especially our financial education initiatives.”

Special Assistant to the Chairman and Director of External Affairs Nicholas Owens said Smith’s role will “enhance the NCUA’s Access Across America initiative and advance the overall public affairs agenda for the agency.”

Prior to joining the Republican National Convention, Smith served as the press secretary and outreach coordinator for Florida Representative Katherine Harris’ congressional campaign. She has served as a project manager with Delta Airlines for customer satisfaction and as an anchor with a CBS television affiliate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Smith is a graduate of Louisiana State University.
